I began blogging in January of 2008. I began putting words into cyberspace because I felt that God wanted me to reach out to women who were a few steps behind me in their mothering journey. I often spend time in real life answering questions and being real with other moms, and so it only seemed natural that I would extend that into the online world.
Very soon after I began sharing here on the daisyhead, it was clear that I was not able to write often. You see, I was still in the throes of Postpartum Depression. Even the daily tasks were too much for me to handle most days. As the fog began to clear a bit, I started my knitwear design business. I was knitting lots of wool soakers for my baby and then sharing the patterns. As the patterns were finished, I published them. Soon, my design business and its accompanying blog took over much of my free time. Writing for the daisyhead had become sporadic.
I cannot believe that was almost four years ago. Time truly does fly.
This past year has become one of transition for my business and for my ministry. I began to feel that God was drawing me to spend less time on pattern design and more time writing and encouraging moms. It has been an exciting five months! I made the jump into social media (finally!), have spent more time stringing together words (rather than yarn), and have made new friends and connections. My blog has grown, and so have I.
In my almost twenty years of marriage and eighteen years of motherhood, I have weathered many stormy times. I have faced lots of challenging mothering moments. God has brought me through them all. My college pastor taught me that to be in ministry, you must be transparent. It's through letting others see your life and struggles that God can really use those experiences to strengthen, encourage, and minister to others. That lesson has stuck with me, and I have seen its truth. I can't begin to number the times that God has used the sharing of my experiences to help another mom. I long for those experiences to reach past "real life" and into cyberspace. Someone out there may need to hear how God has helped me.
So, it's time to expand my reach. It's time for me to put myself out there in new ways. I'm excited to see what God will do!
One of the first steps will be a move to Word Press. I hope to keep a similar feel here at the daisyhead, but am also excited to start a little remodeling. I hope my brain doesn't pop in the process!
Another change will be the addition of just a few advertisers. Don't worry, I will only put family-friendly folks who are worth their weight in gold in my space. If I love it, I'll share it with you.
The biggest and most exciting step will be to attend a blogging conference. I feel that God has prompted me to explore attending the 2:1 Conference. It is a faith-based conference for homeschoolers who blog. I am so excited about the potential of meeting and forming friendships with many women who I talk with online. I would love to learn from women who know much more about blogging and building community online than I.
Of all the steps I am taking to expand, the conference is the biggest leap of faith. I don't know how I will get there, but I truly believe if the Father wants me there, He will provide. I am taking the steps that I can, and letting Him do the rest.
I cannot do this alone, so I am looking for partners. All good things require investment, whether time, skill, money, or prayer. I am looking for partners who will invest in helping me advance the Kingdom through the daisyhead. Would you be willing to help me?
How you can help:
Will you pray for my little space on the web? And for me to minister to those who God brings?
I am looking for others to partner with me. I am looking for small businesses, companies, or other individuals who would like to invest monetarily in my ministry. In return, I would provide promotion of their product, service, or business– here on the blog, at the conference, and on social media. If you know of someone who would like to enter into this type of partnership, would you mind sending them to my PR page?
If you do not have a business, service, or product to promote, but would like to partner with me in my blog ministry, I would like to offer a way for you to do so as well. You can donate using the button below. No gift is too small. Even a small gift can make a big impact for the Kingdom. I would be so blessed to consider you a partner in this calling!
I am so excited to see what God does! Thank you for being a part of it!
